Abigail Cooper is a teaching artist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her practice focuses on multimedia, particularly hot metal. Her work explores the vulnerability within relationships and the preset expectations most of the population experiences. Experimentation is paramount in her practice.
Cooper began teaching at Clay Works in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She currently teaches community outreach classes for children and adults with the Northern Clay Center. Recreationally, she enjoys teaching adult painting classes in a wine and sip setting. Abigail uses humor and connection within the classroom to foster a sense of relaxation and security when making. She feels it is important to facilitate play in all age groups.
Abigail’s work is strongly influenced by communal creation processes, which is what has drawn her to ceramic and metal arts . She plans to continue to teach and open her own studio in the future.
