Anavi Mullick
Anavi Mullick is a former graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (2020). She holds a BFA as a Drawing and Painting major and a Teaching Artist minor. Anavi has worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Studio Kids Art Camps, a summer art camp for children aged 6-12 years. She has also done teaching artist residencies at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and Whittier International School.
From an early age Anavi has been passionate about teaching young children and has worked with children ages ranging from 3 to 15 years. Anavi feels that working with children is a two-way learning process. She is inspired by their spontaneity and expansive dreams and wishes to integrate these in her own art practice. In her work, she focuses on exploring questions of belonging and self-identity as they relate to her ever-changing existence in, and relationship to place.
Anavi has grown up surrounded by art in school and at home, with the freedom to use it as a method of expression, coloring outside the lines. As a teaching artist she hopes to change the “I can’t do art,” mindset by providing opportunities for others to experience art like she did.
