This week was a crazy week! The temperature dropped so much. I lived in Minnesota for so long and I don’t ever remember ever going this low!

So due to the crazy weather, I couldn’t go to any of my sites and I was very sad and disappoint because I was looking forward to it! At CPA, I was going to meet new students and help the art teacher Ms. Lor, who is pregnant! Very excited but also nervous!

But I used this week to start thinking about my role as a teaching artist and started thinking on what I wanted to do with it. But I really used this time to think of some ideas of projects for me to teach in Ms. Lor’s classroom. As an illustrator, I knew I wanted to do something with illustration and to teach the students in that field. But it comes down too many things that is stopping me from going beyond because one, time limit, and two, I don’t have like a week to be in the classroom to teach the students but in a day or two. But overall, I want the students to learn a technique in illustration but also create something that is themselves. I really need to brainstorm and decide what I really want to gain from this opportunity and experience with the students. But most important, for me, is the student and what they will gain from me. Will it be something they have access to at home or school? Will they use it in the future? Would they be able to do it again if I am not there?  Next week, I am planning to talk to Ms. Lor about my teaching and what grade I will be teaching. It won’t be official yet but just getting some ideas and opinions.

But I mostly worked on my final projects for my illustrations classes. I had to do an final Illustration for a class which we had to create a poster for an event and I chose, the winter Carnival in Saint Paul. Which I was having difficult on because I wasn’t feeling it or I wasn’t satisfy with what I came up with, my design. But later my teacher like it my design and told me what I was missing and how to fix certain things for the background and change certain places in the composition. I was very satisfy to see and came up with ideas to change things to be a better illustration!
