Lula McConnell
Talulah McConnell is a multidisciplinary artist currently studying at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Their practice combines drawing, papermaking, 2D animation, poetry, and video. Their work deals with themes of memory, disability, and family relationships. Their favorite way to create is to carry around a journal at all times, working onsite throughout their daily life.
Before coming to MCAD, Lula worked in education for five years. Their Teaching Artist experience has included Family Programming internships at the Walker Art Center, Lead Teacher positions in afterschool arts programs (K-4) and in-school art class (with children ages 6 months to 4 years) at the Early Childhood Center, and the role of Assistant Toddler Guide at Child Garden Montessori.
Lula’s teaching style encourages each child’s independence and individuality, and acknowledges that each participant in the classroom is both a teacher and a learner.
