Lydia Egge is a junior at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, working towards a major in Furniture Design with Teaching Artist minor. She is a mixed-media artist with interests in furniture design, woodworking, painting, drawing, sculpture, and photo/video. She would describe her work as experimental, exploring themes of family dynamic, perception, self identity, and more recently shame and empathy. Prior to College, Lydia studied classical ballet and modern dance; her time in these disciplines included teaching creative movement, dance foundations, and pre-ballet to children ages 3-7. Looking back at her years growing up, Lydia always sees her art teachers as a definite highlight, and has always seen herself teaching art to children. Lydia hopes to provide an environment that encourages students to express themselves freely, while also providing tools and techniques to assist them in their creative projects.
