For This week after the snow stopped I started working on a post for my blog. It’s a project that makes a small patio pond. I made this for my parents, at menards when my dad had to go for light bulbs during the lockdown, I made my move. I went with him to the store and bought a rubber feeder tub for horses and a small pond pump as he bought lightbulbs. Because of the lock down we couldn't get any plants to hide the side of the pond just yet but that will be a project for another day i guess. When I got back home I had moved an old grill off of the deck to make room for this small pond. I was starting to think that it might be a good idea to put a goldfish in it since they eat mosquito eggs. Just in case any mosquitoes had any ideas about laying eggs in it, maybe it might eat the mosquito as well. Two birds with one stone. Now that the grill was moved I had to find a way to lift it off the deck just a little bit so the small dogs my parents had wouldn't pee into the pond if they felt the need to mark it. I took a trip to the wood pile where my parents had thrown old boards from the deck after they renovated it. Turns out these small boards were the perfect size to layer and get the feeder tub off the ground. After layering the wood and setting the pond down I took a bucket to the rock piles next to the lake in the backyard. I went through picking out all the white stones that I could find, it took a couple hours but it was worth it. Eventually I got enough stones to cover the bottom of the tub so it looked nice. After putting the stone in the bottom I opened the pump up only to find that it did not come with any tubing, what a bummer. Luckily my brother works at a hardware store down the street so i had him bring some home the same day. Once I had the tubing I had to find a way to lift the spout above the pond so I could get the waterfall effect. Another trip to the woodpile, this time I found a tall stump that fit perfectly behind the pond in the corner. Now I had to find a way to hide the spout. Turns out the spout fit perfectly in the hole of a terracotta planting pot. I put it on top of the stump so the water poured out of the pot into the pond. Once the spout was in place and the pump on the bottom i filled it with water and plugged it in! It looks ok for now but it wont be perfect until i can go out and get some nice water plants and plants for the outside to surround it. Im still happy with it though.

This week I have received all of my resin products by mail. I have an art sale coming up and I wanted to do charms this time. The sale I'm going to is a Convention in town so I am making little pokemon charms, something that sounds like it will sell well. I had started out with a resin that you had to mix and let sit for two days, but no matter how hard i tried and how precisely I measured it would always come out sticky. So i went and ordered UV curing resin, you just put it under a nail light or out in the sun for an hour and bam nice and clear charms. So far this resin is working more than the previous ones but still a tad sticky, i found that it cures differently on certain surfaces so i want to try and find a way to make this not so sticky. I for sure want to stick with UV curing resin because it’s so fast compared to waiting two days for you project to be done. The pokemon I'm putting in is an eevee, it’s a little fluffy fox looking creature. I used a bunch of shapes on the Cricut Design program to make the image and cut it out of cardstock, I then just drew and glued eyes on and extra colors.

During the covid Lockdown classes have started to work better and people are starting to find their pace. One of my classes Art in communities is having us do some sort of community project. I have chosen to work on a blog, hitting two birds with one stone. I want to make some money from the blog while making crafts and being active in this community. My blog's name is A Pilot’s Artist, it targets Pilots spouses and significant others that have to wait long periods of time for their pilots to return home. I want to show the people that are left at home that even without the man of the house we can still open jars by ourselves...most of the time. Using this blog i want to help this community by being there and showing ways to pass the time other than normal work days while waiting for their people to return back to them.

Though the site is not yet posted it's still bought, I want to have at least five crafts posted before I publish the blog and start putting time into it by advertising it. If i have nothing on it there's not really a point to advertise it yet.

This week was a little confusing as everyone is scrambling to get their online classes working. I was focusing on some crafts I wanted to do in the two week stay at home order. I decided that its time to get down to business for my wedding. I was making paper book flowers for the whole wedding instead of real ones. So to start i used ploral stems made of wire and the cut them in half for the flowers stems. I then used a hot glue gun to put beads of glue on the very top so the flower dose not come off. Once that was done i cut all of the book pages into perfect squares then folded them into triangles three times. I then cut the petal shape on the top and started cutting one triangle out of each petal and adding one more to cut down the way, like a staircase effect. I glued the edges of each petal together and voila! I had a couple of my wedding flowers done!

This week I was supposed to teach a Virtual Reality lesson with the St. Michales 8th grade class, but due to the virus it has to wait. So instead I worked on some personal work. I worked on a model set I have been building up through the semester. This set is supposed to consist of multiple size bodies, eyes, eyelashes, breasts, hands, and any extra features. This set is that way so when i have to create a character i have a bunch of parts set up so i can create the model faster rather than starting from scratch each time. This week I did not have much time due to the chaos so I only made a small set of eyelashes.

During this week I have worked on my lesson plan working out how it will play out. My plan is to bring in a playstation and the conjoining VR headset. This playstation will have a drawing program on it and we will work on the elements of design on it. Each student will have about two minutes in the headset to draw a series of lines and then pass it off to the next student. The goal is to have a large collaborative work that I will post online for them to look at on youtube. Youtube have a 360 camera option that I will use when posting the work, that way students can turn their phones and look all around the art piece.

This week because of an illness and then falling down a flight of stairs i did not get much done. I mainly worked on my class art homework. Which is a dinosaur model, This dinosaur is the ti Qi. the closest thing in this world that could look like a dragon, it has got the head of a lizard, the body of a bird, and wings of a bat. Its got teeth that are conjoined with the skull, and they point out in weird angles. Its thought to eat insects.

For this week I worked on my 3d models. I want to work on more models so I have a nice supply of them for after graduation. This week I started on a chibi model for a vr chat game. This model will work as someone's avatar. I want to keep the mesh simple so that it can also be used for other games. Having a simple mesh will assure that it will play in games without freezing or crashing the game. Detailed meshes are used in movies but because i want to start going into the videogame field i want to find ways to make simple meshes that look detailed.

I focused on my art and personal projects this week. The personal project i worked on was for a friend, she wanted me to design a board game for the video game she was making. My Job is to make it kid friendly, able to replay, easy to learn, and fun to play. This week i had designed the layout and how the game play would work.

This game is to be a tile laying game where you and up to four players are trying to place all the tiles to get to the end goal before the other players do.

I started creating some of the tiles on my Cricut Machine.

To get to place the next tile down you have to roll a dice and get a certain number to continue to place tiles down. the tool tiles are able to help you inhibit the other players or further your own tiles.

St. Michaels Catholic School Day 4

ST MICHALES

February 11th (8 hours)

Prep 15 minutes before school started

We worked on cutting sheets of paper for a mural project fro both the classes and my class project. We have to get the students to draw an image on their square of what being catholic means to them. Then after all the students are done we will tape the images together and unfold all of them in the parking lot creating a big mural. We will send a drone into the air to take a picture of it.

Homeroom: Middle School

This was a very quiet time for their homeroom as many kids were out sick so we said prayer and then waited for classes to begin.

1st Period: 8th grade : 13 students

For this class the students continued on their stop motion projects by putting all the images together and then editing it into a stop motion movie. They then updated their google websites with the projects so they could be graded.

2nd period: 7th grade :12 students

This class was busy paper macheing animals. I had to help a student with her cats tail as we struggled to find a way to support it in the air in an s curve. It was a fun class to help.

3rd period: 6th Grade :12 students

This class after they finished their origami posters worked on the squares for their mural contribution. During this time i made my example and helped them think of ideas to draw on their squares.

4th Period: 4th Grade : 7 students

These kids just finished painting all sorts of hearts fro valentines day and then worked on the mural squares as well. We continued to build the squares for the in progress mural for the school.

5th Period: 5th Grade : 8 students

During this class i went to hang up new pictures that the students made for different projects. There were many valentines penguins and radial design origami projects.

6th period: Kindergarten : 6 students

This was the most fun class of the day. I had to sit with the student and make a cute paper lion face with little bits of construction paper and crayons. I sat and helped one of the more distracted students make sure he got his lions done. After we did lions we all drew on squares for the mural and all the kids wanted to pull chairs up and draw with me.

Prep time:

After this day was over the teacher and I watched the weather trying to find a day we could start sending the drone up to take pictures of the mural. Unfortunately we found out we had to go by a day by day basis on if we could get a picture or not due to weather restrictions. After this we looked at the kids schedule to see when i could next do my teaching lesson with the students, we found out that march 17th was the next time those students were in the art room so that would be when i would teach.

February 9th

(2 hours)

I met with jan the teaching artist from the Science museum and we started planing when i could start shadowing her. We decided that in the mornings before school would work and that we would keep in contact for the days.

St. Michaels Catholic School Day 3

(8 hours)

February 4th

Prep 15 minutes before school started

I had to make four more clay rolls for the students this day because there was another class who needed them.

Homeroom: Middle School

This time was filled with collecting sheets that parents signed for a steak lunch for the students. TGI Fridays had donated steak and potatoes lunches to the students for their hard work and after school volunteering at many places.

1st Period: 8th grade : 13 students

This class the teacher and i talked about a poster that she has always wanted to make for the class room, i had mentioned that i had a Cricut cutter and could cut lettering with it. Since i live across the street i was able to run and grab my cutting machine and start helping her make a poster for the class room.

2nd period: 7th grade :12 students

I was cutting cardboard for the poster this class. The poster was about all the ways you could attach cardboard together because the art room used a lot of cardboard. I made many different chuncks for the poster

3rd period: 6th Grade :12 students

During this class I had put together the entire poster and had my Cricut cut the letters and then glue them on to the poster.

4th Period: 4th Grade : 7 students

After the final details on the poster i helped the students make pinch pots. We used the clay chunk rolls i had cut earlier and then pinched them into a pot. I got to make one with them to, it was a lot of fun to sit at the tables with the students and help them and make my own small pot.

5th Period: 5th Grade : 8 students

These kids had finished their work early so we had a sketch day, each student could pull out their sketch book and draw what they wanted. I sat with a table and drew with them, i made a small sheet of dinosaurs for each student and cut them out for them all because they all wanted dinosaurs.

6th period: Kindergarten : 6 students

This class was still painting hearts and finished by the end of class. The teacher had me read them a book while they all sat in a circle and worked on their sketch books. This was very fun, the book was something like “your words” or “heart and words” it was a book telling them to be nice with their words because it affects others hearts.

Prep time:

During the end of the day the teacher and I got to talk about new links that i could look up and new things i could do for lessons in the future. One of these things was the PMI paper drive. It’s a paper drive where when you go you can take as much paper as you can home with you for your students or you. Another Tip was a website called ArtSonia.com its a website that the teacher put the students work up on so when she has to grade she wont have to take the risk of bringing the students work home with her she can just look at the post and grade from there.

St.Michaels Catholic School Day 2

(8 hours)

January Tuesday 28th

During this stay I was with the single art teacher in the private school teaching k-8th

Prep 15 minutes before school started

During this time the teacher had brought out huge boxes of clay and showed me what the class for the afternoon needed. I had to cut 24 blocks of clay out of the two large blocks.

Homeroom: Middle School

This time the home room had another class join because their smart board had died and there was no way to show the daily news. I then learned that they were going to have to earn money to buy new smart boards for the classrooms

1st Period: 8th grade : 13 students

During this period I continued to cut clay chunks out of the blocks using a butter knife. It was surprisingly hard because it was just like pottery clay but an air dry version, after I cut them blocks I had to make them into balls for “pinch pots”

2nd period: 7th grade :12 students

This class I finished cutting the clay and then I went to cut out a couple more hearts for the kindergartners so they could learn about tints by painting the hearts.

3rd period: 6th Grade :12 students

During this period i got to sit and talk with the teacher and learn about some nice new links for the future and learn something called the number game. It’s a game where the teacher turns around to face the class while behind them is a board full of numbers that are black and red. The student chooses a row of numbers and lists off the colors they are but not the number, they lie about one of the colors in the row. Then the teacher has to guess what number they lied about. There is a tick I’m still getting the hang of but no matter what the student lists off you are able to guess the right number each time. It is a good relationship building game, the students love it and have fun trying to stump the teacher.

4th Period: 4th Grade : 7 students

This period Was a robotics demonstration, me and the art teacher ran around taking photos for the year book. It was a lot of fun watching the kids cheer for different robots to win a stacking game.

5th Period: 5th Grade : 8 students

This period the art teacher went back to the class room and i stayed at the gym for the k-5 robotics demonstration. I got to take a ton of pictures of all of the smaller students and then a class photo for the kindergarteners.

6th period: Kindergarten : 6 students

During this time i went to the lunch room for the last lunch and took photos of the students in their Farming outfits for farm day. Instead of uniforms the students wore cowboy hats, overalls and plaid shirts. The smaller students had pigs on their faces and freckles painted on. It was fun to get photos for the year book at the lunch that day.

St. Michaels Catholic School Day 1

(8 hours)

January tuesday 21st

During this stay I was with the single art teacher in the private school teaching k-8th

Prep 15 minutes before school started

During this time both the teacher and I cut our 3inX3in squares for the 6th grade class who was starting to do radial origami designs. This was fun and we got through a ton surprisingly!

Homeroom: Middle School

This was when the teacher and I had to check everyone's uniforms, we had to send a couple students to the lockers to take off sweatshirts and hats they tried to wear for the day. It reminded me of when I went to this school, it was very nice to see those uniforms again. After The uniforms were checked we had to listen to the daily video of where students pre picked for the week would list of the weekly birthdays and events. After this the class had me lead the daily prayer and then I introduced myself and was able to answer some questions about my major.

1st Period: 8th grade : 13 students

The eighth graders were doing a stop motion project that I was able to help them with, I went around to each group and learned about their project and what each of them was doing. One group was trying to do an underwater scene so they had a huge clear tub filled with water, the other was making Olaf from frozen walk through a forest. This was a very fun class to watch and talk to and get to know.

2nd period: 7th grade :12 students

This class was making paper mache animals, I got to talk to them a little bit before i went to start putting up artwork on the walls outside the classroom and all around the school. I was helping prep the artwork from the Catholic school week open house.

3rd period: 6th Grade :12 students

This class was fun as I sat with the students and made my own origami pieces for a radial design. We all sat and watched a video on how to fold three special radial design origami folds, because I sat with the students I was able to help them with their folds and talk to them one on one. This was a very easy class to get along with each other because they were all so talkative about dogs and cats and anything else that was on their minds.

4th Period: 4th Grade : 7 students

I had a ton of fun in this class, after I was introduced to the kids wanted to know more about dinosaurs and what I did to create them. It was nice to see students interested in the process of actually making a video games or movies. After I was introduced and had the chance to hear their names and their favorite colors i was sent to cut cardboard hearts out for the 2nd graders. The 2nd graders that would come in tomorrow are learning about tints for colors and making hearts for their parents.

5th Period: 5th Grade : 8 students

These kids were balls of energy for their artworks. I got to see them make their own cartoon characters. I got to ask them about why they made which cartoon characters and what words that the character would say from their word bubble art that had to go along with them. It was so much fun to see them so excited about making a cartoon, one was a princess slug and wanted to wear pajamas to her throne room, another was a robot who was talking about how much he likes the timberwolves.

6th period: Kindergarten : 6 students

These kids I didn't get to see very much because I was cutting hearts out and hanging more artwork. I was sent to do these tasks. When I came back from hanging  artwork and cutting hearts all the kids cheered because they had listened hard enough I came back, I got to see them sit down and listen to a story before they left back to their class.

Prep time:

During the end of the day the teacher and I got to talk about what lessons I could teach that would excite the kids and work with the curriculum. We have decided that I would teach the 8th graders and 5th graders. We talked about the lessons and decided that for the 5th graders we could have them build their own dinosaurs. The 8th graders would work on a vr headset and combine their art knowledge to make a vr 3D drawing together. After this the teacher showed me some good websites that would be good for substitute teaching and K-12 teaching.

Prior Lake High School Day 4

(8 hours)

January Thursday 16th

Todays classes were put in a different order because of the end of the quarter and testing

Classes are a mix of grade 9-12

1st hour

Graphic Design with the photography teacher

Today most of the students were done with their projects but a few were still working. I went around and helped the students that were still working on their projects, For the ones that weren't I would ask them questions on what they like about the class or what they planned for their future. One student was trying to get into Harvard at the moment and she led twelve different clubs it was very fun to hear about that.

2nd hour

Pottery with the pottery head teacher

This class was all done with their work so it was more a class I could work on my own lesson plans for the day tweaking things and finding ways I could make it run a little smoother. This class I also went around to different teachers and hand them resource sheets that I made for students interested in the 3D field but don't know where to start. I feel like this would be very beneficial to the students since they are just before they go to college so they could get a head start.

5th hour

Drawing with the fine arts teacher

This hour was more talking with the teacher about the lesson I was to teach the next hour. We walked over what the kids might like and how i could set up the cheat sheets. Towards the last half of this class I was sent to the graphics labs to set up for my lesson, this included getting the projector to work with my apple play, getting the sound working and setting cheat sheets on the desks.

6th hour

Graphic design with the fine arts teacher

This was the class I taught, I taught a lesson called intro to 3D animation. I showed them how to move a box across the screen for the first 15 minutes and the last half of class was me going around and helping them figure out what they could do with the program. It was a lot of fun seeing what people started to do after they were done with the animation. Some started modeling, others started playing with the 2D functions while others started ray tracing their boxes.

3rd hour

AP arts with the Fine arts teacher

I spent a little of this class cleaning up my cheat sheets that the students left and then went on to the classroom. This class was a cleaning day, I helped scrape the paint off of tables and clean the floors. After this I started to set up for my second lesson of the day.

4th hour

Intro to art with the Photography teacher

This class started out with cleaning up the classroom while I set up my computer and handed out the cheat sheets. I did the same lesson as before but this time I only had one person interested and on the computer by the end of class, it was a little disheartening. After this class I was able to clean up again and watch the meeting with the Paras.

Prior Lake High School Day 3

(8 hours)

January Wednesday 15th

Classes are a mix of grade 9-12

1st hour

Graphic Design with the photography teacher

This class is starting to wind down because the next day is the last day of class. I walked around the room most of the class and helped people add more depth to the project. One of the students was making a large serpent like creature and I was able to help him create it with the knowledge I had from having an internship at a reptile zoo. This was a nice class as i am starting to get more comfortable with getting in next to the students and asking them about their works or asking them if they have any other work to work on other than playing on their phones. This is becoming a very good experience and chance to feel like what a high school teacher might feel like.

2nd hour

Pottery with the pottery head teacher

Today the class was very relaxing, we had to clean for the first ten minutes but then it was free time. I had fun going around and asking students about their work and what they liked about the class. They liked how you could create things and bring them home, also how they could make their own dish ware and other little things like ring holders. I also helped one student with a paper that was due for a different class, i helped her with the grammar and some spelling mistakes. It was a very interesting class and I learned about how pottery teachers use their prep time. They like to make clay or clean the wheels and organize the studio.

3rd hour

AP art with the fine arts teacher.

This class wanted to do their own work with no help this hour. So for my time I started to work on my lesson plan. I will be teaching the Graphics class of last hour how to animate a 3d box. The teacher in the AP class helped me figure out what time this class would run since it is a half day. I ended up with a lesson plan like this:

Goal: Introduction to 3D animation

Steps: *Move the character

*Key frame

*Quick time it

4th Hour

Intro to Art with the photography teacher

This was the last day for this class so the students were almost all done and had free time. While I helped some choose new colors for different pieces of art most of this class was communicating with the teacher about how they create their lesson plans and how i should help the graphics kids learn the program better. What I came up with was to make a small cheat sheet so they could peek at it while they animate a box moving across the ground. I also started to make a Resource Sheet to leave with the teachers so that students that were interested in this field had some websites and ideas of programs they should look into.

5th hour

Drawing with the fine arts teacher

This drawing class we cleaned for the class so I showed them what tools to scrape paint and which tools to use to wash ink out the best. I was more going to janitors across the school and getting more supplies like magic sponges and more cleaning fluid. During this time i was allowed to look around the faculty lounge in the para wing.

6th hour

Graphic Design with the fine arts teacher

This class I got to go around and help the students that were listening to the lesson and learn how to be more firm with the less interested students.

Prior Lake High School Day 2

(8 hours)

January Tuesday 14th

Classes are a mix of grade 9-12

1st hour

Graphic Design with the photography teacher.

This class they were continuing the three images they were working on previously and I started to get an understanding of the project more. The students must make three images: a landscape, an animal or creature, and an abstract image. To make these images they have only nine shapes they can use, but they can resize in proportion, change the color, change the orientation, and layer. The class started to regard me as someone who can teach. It made me feel as if i was starting to see what a K-12 teacher sees and started to be regarded as someone going through all the training to be one. I also learned about where the teacher finds her lesson plans.

2nd hour

Pottery 1 with the pottery head teacher

This class was a cleaning day, so I helped organize the students into groups to clean certain things in the pottery class. In this class all they had to do was clean the wood slabs to sculpt on and the large wheeled racks that bisque wear is placed. After the cleaning was done, the students were given free time while the teacher and I started prep for next quarter classes. We took buckets from the sink that were filled with water and dropped them into a clay machine. These buckets full of water for the kids to drop extra clay from the pottery wheel into. The clay would get super soggy and gross then put into the clay machine and it would start working to get excessive moisture out. The clay machine will make the clay workable again. This process did not take long, we would just dump the buckets into a large funnel into the machine. After we had to call out names to each student for them to get extra pots that they made but forgot. It was a good lesson in how to organize your students and have them help keep the art room clean for the next class.

3rd hour

Foods Class with a para

This class was put in because the AP class was cancelled for the day. I shadowed my mother and learned about what paras do and how they help students. This foods class was a slower class because no food was being made that day. I was able to watch how the para calmed a hyperactive student and got him to do some of his work. I learned that the students paras help get either a pass or fail grade, no in between. I was not allowed to try to help any students this hour as I am not licensed for this work so I observed. It was very interesting to see how the teacher acted with the students in this class, the interactions were much more happy and over the top then what i saw in all the other classes. It helped me to see how the teachers and paras try different methods to assist the kids to do their work and learn. The para in the class had a gentle approach, she would talk softly to the student and tell them how these tasks were very small and then after they could play on the iPad for five minutes or have a reward. After each task one student who loved playing on his iPad for five minutes had so much fun he continued do the work. I found this class very helpful in the way that I was able to add some different approaches to my arsenal of communication if I ever need it in the future.

4th hour

Intro to Art with the photography teacher

In this class i was able to start helping students with certain paints for Impressionist paintings. I was able to use the brushes properly to convey the style that they needed to use. I was able to walk around the room and help many students do this style. In this class the students all wanted my thoughts on the art pieces so i thought it would be fun to do mini critiques between four people. I went through the tables as the teacher talked to other students about their missing assignments. As I moved through the tables I would take two people across from two sitting next to each other and ask them to say one nice thing about each other’s work and then one thing they thought that might improve the others painting.

5th hour

CAD with the architecture teacher

The drawing class was canceled so i went and observed a CAD class because the other art teachers did not have classes at this time. This class was my favorite, when I saw the students working I understood the program they were working on. This class was a 3D modeling class for architecture, I was able to converse with the teacher about the class planning for lessons and how the class was set up. It was very interesting to hear that most of the students that took the class took it to have a fun creative break from regular high school classes. I was glad that when the students had questions I could talk to them about the problem in a language they could understand. This class was building lego models on their programs and every one had such different and wonderful ideas, they had a second project as well that I was able to help them on. The second project was to take something that had four parts and build it in the computer and put it together in the computer. I was able to give recommendations on how the models should start and how they could be improved so they would look and feel more like the real life model.  This class went by so fast and I wish I could have had more time with them.

6th hour

Graphic Design with a substitute teacher

This class was interesting because there was not a single problem in that class. The students were working in silence and got their work done. Because everyone was getting their work done i had time to ask the substitute about how substitute teaching works. I found out how the substitutes are hired and how they can apply the day before or get a call at almost four in the morning then have to go to school. She showed my the website that they hire off of and then told my that my degree qualifies for substitute teaching! I checked with the hiring department later that day and they confirmed it.

Prior Lake High school Day 1

(8 hours)

January Monday 13th

Classes are a mix of grade 9-12

1st hour

This was a graphic design class with the high school Photography teacher.

The first hour I was told the assignments the students were working on and was able to go around and help students fix their projects or problem solve when they had a question on illustrator. I was a bit frustrated and soon realized the students did not see me as an instructor as yet. I learned that I needed to earn their respect by asking about the projects and what colors they were using and what they planned to do. This helped me to connect to many of the students, but I still have work to do.

2nd hour

This was a pottery 1 class with the head of pottery in the high school

This class was nearing the end of the season so we were glazing. I was helping wipe the glazes off the pots and tell students if they were ready to go into the kiln. I also watched how the teacher decided on the grades for the pots going by the rubric that was handed out.

3rd hour

This was an AP College Credit art class taught by the fine arts teacher.

We went over how he motivates students to continue this year long course and how he helps them choose pieces that will help round out their art portfolios and help them later if they want to continue in the art field.

I sat down one on one with two students that were interested in going into the animation field and they had questions on things like: what programs? What are the assignments like? How detailed are the rubrics? What could I start to learn to help me in the future?

4th hour

Intro to art with the photography teacher

This class i went around and helped suggest how to help each person's painting and how they could enhance what they wanted to show through their painting. I assisted the teacherby helping to lesen distractions and guiding students to do their work through questions and describing what I noticed.

5th hour

Drawing One with the fine arts teacher

This class the teacher today wanted to see how the kids did on their own. She said we would sit behind the desk and observed how well they worked on their own after a semester of self improvement on their self control of being able to sit down and draw. He told me that in the beginning of the course none would stay in the classroom so he decided he would reward them with better grades if they stayed working throughout the class.

I thought this was very successful because almost every student drew the entire time and every one said they were very satisfied with their own works of art after working so hard on them. This teacher also showed me some of the inner workings of a K-12 teacher. He showed me what the grading system looked like and how he personally liked to grade the students. He also showed me the process of how he contacts parents through emails to let them know about their children’s grades. He showed me his rough format of letting a parent know that their student needs help in this class to get their grades up. I enjoyed learning about this aspect in the classroom because it felt important and essential to good teaching practice.

6th hour

Graphic Design with the fine arts teacher
