Iris Monahan is a Sophomore at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, pursuing a BFA in Illustration. She grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina but has made a second home of Minneapolis. Iris has volunteer experience assisting a children's art class at the Cameron Art Museum of Wilmington working with children ages eight to fourteen. She also completed a year-long internship under the Career and Technical Education Department of New Hanover High School. As an intern she honed her skills in helping teach digital design skills to students ages thirteen to eighteen, serving as an administrative assistant to a department facilitator, and managing various forms of documentation for other interns. Iris’s best skills organization and helping students enjoy themselves while learning. She is a strong believer in the importance of arts education in public school systems and the creation of accessible opportunities for creativity for communities.
