COURTNEY COCHRAN
Boozhoo! (Hello) My name is Courtney Arlene Cochran, I am a Indigenous artist from Nett Lake Band of Chippewa. I currently attend Minneapolis College of Art and design. I enjoy working with many mediums such as film, photography, drawing and Native American Art. I primarily work with seed beads, birch bark and porcupine quills to create one of a kind authentic Native American art. "NOOKOMIS" means 'Grandmother' in the Ojibwe Language. I choose this word in honor of my late grandmother, Arlene Cochran. Arlene who raised me, was a very important influence with my artwork. Although she was not artistically talented and would to say "I cannot draw a stick figure to save my life!" her life and strength was a true inspiration to me and I would not be the woman, artist and mother I am today If it was not for her selfless decision to raise me.
