Chel Mattson

Chel is a sculptor who works with metal, wood, plaster, clay, and resin. His work is exploring the sensation of disturbance. Whether scale overwhelms the viewer or terror being present within the subject, in an attempt to cause an empathetic or overwhelming response to the viewer. Scale is important to him, larger than life objects can force the viewer into becoming enveloped in the universe the artwork originates from. Often the process being new, causing discomfort in him during the creation.

Chel's experience in teaching is minimal but with the little exposure he has had, he knows he wants to teach more.
