Shane Toomey

Shane Toomey is  entering my senior year at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, expecting to graduate in May 2019 with a BFA in Photography while minoring as a Teaching
Artist. He is a recipient of the 2018 MCAD Merit Scholarship for Photography Award and a creative director for Saber Magazine.

As an educator, it is his goal to create self-driven and socially active students by using the creative process. He primarily works with students in the middle school range. This age is a critical in art appreciation, for students become aware of their shortcomings in art at this age. A bad experience in art at this age may lead to a permanent disdain towards the creative field.

As a photographer, Shae uses photography as a tool to expand  perspectives and to self reflect. He has traveled extensively and always bring a camera, documenting the
people, places, and  experiences. In doing so, he creates a
visual records that helps him reflect personal growth and development and also inspire cultural investigation and exploration. Shane has both taught and
photographed in Minnesota, California, and Nepal.
