Minnesota Museum of American Art, 5 Hours.
On Friday, April 12, 2019, was the M’s Alliance Equant ace day. Which was an amazing day! I was helping the teaching artist and different ways of each teaching artist. The point of this event bringing two different schools together to create and learn art. And it was huge for the museum because it was the first time the M tried something like this so in other words, it was a special day and event. The children came from two different schools and mix the schools within three circles in which the students became friends with the other school. First, the children got in their group with one teaching artist and they talked and drew. Than they went to paint murals and after that it was Lunch time. Than the students got into their group with their teaching artist that was helping them thought the morning. Each teaching artist, had their own activity and system. Down below shows the pictures of the teaching artist and their students and each had different activity and ideas!
First picture.
Here the students had to find a piece of the theme they were assigned. The themes were: Metal, Glass, Wood, Fiber. Each Theme had 3 students and those students who had the theme had to go find an art piece that was made in their material. They had to write down the artist name and the title. After, they had to go and explain on why that piece and why they choose that art piece.
Second picture.
Here the students had to pick a cover magazine that they like and why. Than they talked on what is art and what makes it art. They choose a piece and explain why it makes it art and what doesn’t.

Here the students were to move the faniture and explain on why they moved and arranged it.
Each teaching artist, made sure that the kids thought of art and used it in different ways.
I was helping the kids behave and taking the children to the bathroom or for a walk. I also helped the teaching artist for extra hands and to watch out for the students. Overall it was a great experience! I took a group of kids, 4, to wash their hands and they asked if I was a teenager. I played along with them and I was making them guess my real age and they were shock but in good way. They said that I’m lucky to look young rather than old. I started laughing and so did they. I think that was the best moments for me. Getting to know the children’s ideas and opinions and thoughts. Which relates to art. Art is our voices, our opinions, our identity, and connecting with people and community.
